A native of Detroit, MI, Chef Steve moved to in Grand Rapids, Michigan, after he earned his bachelor’s degree in Dietetics from Michigan State University, with a specialization in Connected Learning, to pursue an associate’s degree in Culinary Arts and an endorsed certificate in Personal/Private Chef, at the Grand Rapids Community College: The Secchia Institute for Culinary Education.
His travels have taken him all over the world, and include research on genetically modified food in South Africa; a chef position at the historic St. Andrews Link’s Trust Golf Course in St. Andrews, Scotland; and various cooking positions within the United Kingdom and Michigan. Chef Steve is the resident culinary expert and regular contributor for “My West Michigan”, the most-watched lifestyle show on WZZM-ABC 13 in western Michigan; he was featured in an episode of Guy’s Grocery Games, an innovative, competitive cooking show on The Food Network; and he was recently interviewed and featured in the 2016 holiday issue of the Grand Rapids Magazine.
We got the chance to sit down with Steven recently while he was visiting Dallas. In this conversation we discuss his passion for healthy food and cooking. We also discuss growing up eating at the buffet on Sunday's with his family, weight watchers and his most recent venture of being a private marijuana chef.
